The hirer is responsible for insuring equipment against loss, theft and damage. Our rates do not cover insuring equipment whilst in your care. If the equipment is lost or stolen it is charged at the current replacement cost. However, insurance can be arranged by way of the HAE Hire Guard Insurance scheme.
As members of the Hire Association Europe (HAE), we are able to offer insurance cover for hired equipment against its accidental loss or damage. The cover can be obtained by payment of a fee equal to 15%* of the total hire charge of the relevant hire contract.
The insurance cover is, of course, subject to certain limits, exclusions, excesses and conditions. A detailed summary of the cover is available on request. Acceptance to the scheme is subject to Insurer’s approval.

Southern Plant & Tool Hire customers must show evidence of adequate insurance cover when hiring goods from our depot.
The condition of our Hire Agreement under CPAS conditions states that Hirers are responsible for all plant in their possession until the plant is returned to us or has been collected from the Hirer.
Therefore the Hirer is responsible for insurance of plant. Off hired plant is still the responsibility of the Hirer up to and including 5 working days from the date of hire. We will, of course, always endeavour to collect off hired plant the same day or next day.
